Fly Fishing New Zealand

Summer fishing

The warm days of summer in the Central North Island of New Zealand creates a large mass of prey items for the hefty trout that inhabit these crystal clear rivers and streams. Often the challenge here is to make that first cast count. Access to these areas is by 4x4, raft, helicopter or fixed wing. With these warmer temperatures a camp out option is always a good idea.

Winter fishing

The Trout of Lake Taupo have a sprorning run very similar to that of Steelhead trout. They move out of the lake in large groups and into the river systems to find a mate and sutable sporning waters. The tops of these rivers are closed from the first of June to the first of December, however that leaves large sections of lower river to chase these fantastic chrome specimins. These are wild Rainbow and Brown trout, and our speciality is to sight fish these well conditioned trout. Very exiting!
